When I was 6 years old, my mom took me to see a production of Tommy. A moment I can still visualize and will never forget. It changed me. It captivated me. The music, the acting, the costumes, the stage. I was hooked. Of course, I had my parents get me the soundtrack which I had on repeat for at least 2 years...and then some!
I grew up with music in my house. While my mom can play guitar and piano, it was mostly tapes, CDs, and radio which were always switched on. Growing up in the 1970s, my father continually had Supertramp, Queen, and other mid-to-late 70s bands playing. My mother specifically had Donna Summer, Heart, the Gipsy Kings, and Arabic music playing. But in general, we listened to pretty much anything and everything.
Although I have played some instruments, I regret to inform anyone that I do not currently play any instruments. Nonetheless, music has made the worst and best of times that much better. Like many, I have intense memories attached to so many albums and songs. Music has simply shaped who I am. Whether old or new, I am continually fascinated with our fascination with music.
Over the past few years, likely due to online radio and music websites, I have been discovering a lot of incredible music. Instead of flooding my Facebook wall and talking the ears off my friends, I thought a blog would allow we to share music with other music lovers - for which I know there are many!
