Top 40 Favourites: Winter 2015

Since working in a bakery which constantly had the radio on, I have been listening to A LOT of Top 40 music. I have become quite fond of many of the songs currently getting airtime on the radio to the point where I regularly listen to the radio at home or even on the go. I even got my mom into it all!

The music currently on radio replay have great beats - part pop, part EDM, part R&B. And I'm loving it! Great beats to listen to on the go, while getting through all that homework, or to work out to.

3 songs I am currently loving:

The Weeknd - Earned It

I have not read the 50 Shades of Grey series, nor will I be watching the movie. But the soundtrack is killer! And this song is music for the ears, the soul. It features a full orchestra with a tango rhythm, and an up-and-coming R&B artist that gives this song a true throwback soul sound. Just give it a try...I promise, it earned it!

Maroon 5 - Sugar

I have never been a huge Maroon 5 fan, in fact, I historically have avoided them altogether (I know, *GASP*). But this song has that cool, easy-going 70s soft rock vibe - the vibe that I means I can literally have this song on repeat for an hour (it's happened). Plus, the wedding 'crashing' video concept is ADORABLE. More Sugar? YES, PLEASE!

Hozier - Take Me To Church

There is nothing typical Top 40 about this song (other than the dance remix...but I'm talking about the original version). The music is completely unique, the lyrics are rooted in meaning and emotion, and the voice...well, the voice speaks for itself. Unlike other current Top 40 artists, Hozier has this deep, smooth, sultry voice that I cannot get enough of. A heads up on the video - it's an emotional one. I was in tears by the end of it. Haunting.

I generally dislike covers - especially of the greats and the classics - but Hozier's cover of Led Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love is something to hear...and love. Included for your listening pleasure:

Lot's of great music this year, what has been some of your favourites?
